Pre-Spring Get Up

The best way to add oompf to an otherwise everyday outfit? Heels, duh! These suede platform booties are surprisingly comfortable and easy to wear.

This coat was a recent steal at Urban Outfitters, a wool coat under $10? I didn't even have to think about it.

My new favorite jeans! So soft and super stretchy!

Lately I haven't been doing much with my hair, it's so easy to just throw it into a messing top knot. It has gotten so long, I am in desperate need of a trim but just haven't had the time!

Remember When Spring Never Showed Up?

Remember When Spring Never Showed Up?

Remember when spring never came? Remember when I fell into the fashion slump that follows crap weather? Remember when I lost my creative capacity?

Man oh man, it's been forever. That's what happens when you become an adult. All work and no play. EWW!
So please forgive the lack of updates, posts, photos, and energy as of late.

Since I have been missing the spark, today I am ripping myself out of my cookie cutter wet weather outfits and turning back on my creative juices. This outfit pairs together some of my favorite pieces from my current wardrobe, and a few that I currently have on my wishlist.

Check out those sunglasses! Only $11! I'm also sharing a new secret weapon of mine.....Tresemme Cashmere Touch Nourishing Hair Oil. This makes my hair SOO soft and smooth without leaving a greasy residue. It's a MUST TRY!

Child Empress in Sneaks

Meeting up with the best cousins for Taco Tuesday at Deagan's. YUM! Christmas ale and chicken tacos will undoubtedly put me into a food coma before my all nighter at work. :/

Dutch sneaking in for a photo op. Sort-of

I wore this DIY chain head piece on New Years Eve, and all night I kept getting "child empress". You know what? I'll take it.

The breakdown:
Blazer: H&M old
Long Sleeve Shirt: H&M old
Chain Headband: DIY

The newest addition to my shoe rack, Qupid sneaker wedges.
I'm off to stuff my face with delicious tacos and fine beer!

New Year, New Outlook

New Year's always brings about resolutions that aren't kept, oohh the letdown. So let's skip the "blahblah" and move right into the feeling of 'fresh'. Crisp weather has me feeling like sweatpants all day everyday...

While I thaw out of my winter funk, I welcome the new year with a new wardrobe. A new thrift store opened up down the street and HOLY MOLY, my shoe collection has doubled and my comfy sweater drawer is about to burst! Believe it or not my mom found these jeans at the thrift store and distressed them herself as a Christmas present! My mom, is the mom of all moms. Not a mother to all moms, but the #1 mom out of any mom ever.

So Merry Christmas to me, the best jeans a girl could ask for!

So here is the breakdown:
Jacket: Dillard's
Jeans: Thrifted and DIY
Shoes: JCPenney
Shirt: Gap, similar here
Scarf: H&M, similar here

But in all honesty, I do have one goal for 2013. To keep thinking positively. Oh, and then there is the list of things to accomplish this year, it keeps growing, and things are already changing...so it's bound to change.

Happy 2013!

Staying Warm in Winter Weather

Staying Warm in Winter Weather

Is it just me, or is this winter weather getting the best of me in the style department. When it's THIS cold out, the last thing I want to do is wear a light pair of shoes. Duck boots are a classic when it comes to keeping feet dry, mine are extra roomy so I layer two pairs of comfy thick socks to keep my tootsies warm. Cozy boot socks were my #1 Christmas gift this year, THE BEST!

I recently lost my favorite pair of mittens, so I'm currently on the lookout for another kick-ass pair. I like to keep my hats, gloves, and scarves in a neutral color family so that I can easily switch between winter coats without looking like rainbow bright. Layering is the best way to stay warm without being stuck sweating when walking through the grocery store. I usually pair a hooded sweatshirt under a structured jacket for an easy way to cool down one layer at a time.

My mother recently introduced me to Tree Hut's Shea Body Butter. Listen, this lotion is like no other. I lotion my skin everyday with this stuff and it keeps my winter skin feeling like a baby's bottom. Oh, and did I mention the scent? It smells like summer! I mean, come on, who doesn't want a little summer refresher in the dead of winter?! Following along the path of winter perils, my lips always need some extra help when it gets chilly. I like Burt's Bee's mango chapstick!

Has anyone heard about the new "it" color for 2013? EMERALD! This coat from Romwe is an easy way to introduce 2013's statement color without over doing it. By keeping other colors subtle in accessories (like a comfy slouchy sexy sock ;] ), emerald will slip right on into you're winter wardrobe with ease.
